The Effect of Self-Leadership and Major Satisfaction on Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy of Dental Hygiene Students

Abstract

|
This study had collected 237 dental hygiene students in Busan, Ulsan and Kyungnam, in order to investigate self-leadership and major satisfaction on career decision-making self-efficacy of dental hygiene students and find relationship between these. A survey was conducted from April 1 through April 20, 2013, by using structured, self-administered questionnaires. Collected data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, t-test, ANOVA, pearson correlation, using the SPSS software version 20.0 program.
The obtained results were as follows;
1. The mean of hygiene student¡¯s self-leadership was 3.39 out of 5. In terms of sub-domain, self-compensation(3.79) is the highest, followed by self-expectation(3.47), and rehearsal(3.42).
2. In multiple regression analysis, constructive factor in self-leadership is most influential factor of career decision-making self-efficacy, followed by goal-setting, self-criticism, self-expectation.
3. The career decision-making self-efficacy was under the greatest influence of the general satisfaction, followed by curriculum satisfaction factor in major satisfaction.
